Emma Thomley joined the Great Plains Institute in 2021 and is a Program Associate for the Carbon Management Team. Emma supports the State and Regional Carbon Capture projects and the Carbon Action Alliance. Outside of her work with GPI, she advocates for sustainable agriculture by volunteering as a Communications and Outreach Leader with the Land Stewardship Project.

Emma graduated from Carleton College in 2020 with a degree in Political Science and Environmental Studies. While at Carleton, she analyzed climate action plan (CAP) planning processes and climate mitigation strategies. As a National Science Foundation Fellow, Emma researched the connections between disaster resilience and serious-geo games. During her Congressional Internship with U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, she conducted policy research and assisted constituents with the immigration process.
